Thank you for your interest in my work.

I am a non-fiction writer and keynote speaker.

My books explore the impact of innovation and technology on business and society, on policy-making and our planet.

My essays and long-reads are being published in Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Foreign Affairs, The Economist, FAZ and Die Zeit, among others.

I am Fellow at Einstein Center Digital Future in Berlin and I have been honored with several publishing awards, including the German Essay Prize 2022, the Axiom Business Book Award 2019, the getAbstract International Book Award 2018, the Financial Times Business Book Award, the Herbert Quandt Media Award, the ADC Award and the Best of Corporate Publishing Award.

Over the past 15 years, I have written about 20 books, including the Spiegel bestseller The Flicks, the handbooks In Data We Trust and Smart Data and, together with Erik Spiekermann, a bestselling book on Design Thinking. In 2014 I published my first novel about the good life (and the bad life) in large corporations.

Reinventing Capitalism in the Age of Big Data, which I co-authored with Oxford professor Viktor Mayer-Schönberger, has been translated into 20 languages and has stimulated a worldwide debate on data monopolies. Who’s Afraid of AI, a short and comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence, hit the shelves in 2019. If you like infographics please check out The Global Economy as You’ve Never Seen It (co-authored with Jan Schwochow). Viktor and I have put out another book recently at University of California Press: Access Rules – Freeing Data from Big Tech For a Better Future. And there is a book of mine forthcoming at MIT Press in fall 2023: On Brink of Utopia: Reinventing Innovation to Solve the World's Largest Problems.

Over the past 20 years, I have hosted more than 300 events, conferences, public panels and workshops for government institutions, companies, business associations and academic organizations. Most of the debates have circled around the question: How is technology changing business, work, life and societies?

My keynote speeches build up on my books. I talk about:

  • Reinventing Innovation to Solve the World's Hardest Problems

  • Who wants to live forever? / Longevity

  • Artificial Intelligence

  • How to improve decision-making with data

  • Blockchain, Bitcoin and the Crypto Economy

  • Big Data vs. Smart Data

  • Internet of Things and Industry 4.0

  • The Future of Work

  • Digital Disruption vs. Digital Transformation

  • Storytelling

You can find some of my talks online, for example a TEDx talk about blockchain technology here.

I moderate and speak in English, French and German. For requests, please feel free to contact me at
